    to me vs for me

If I say ''It was an important experience for me beacuse '' it is wrong. Should I say ''to me''?
Please correct me if I'm wrong. We say

It is an interesting experiece to me.
It was an interesting experience for me to work with kids.

Is there any rule or explenation to learn better using for me/ to me.

Thank you taking the time to answer my question.

Re: to me vs for me

Both work. For me means in respect to my aims; to me means from my point of view.
