    Please correct

    Hi can you tell me which of the following is correct. thank you.


    Paloma did not make it to work for, her car broke down on the freeway.

    Paloma did not make it to work for her car, broke down on the freeway.


    Paloma did not make it to work, for her car broke down on the freeway.

    The first two are wrong. The third is correct, but not likely to be said. This use of "for" sounds very old-fashioned to me.

    "Paloma did not make it to work because her care broke down on the freeway" is much more likely.
    I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
