    do it on your own

    Hi,

If there is a difference between 'do it on you own' and 'do (or some other verb) it yourself' please point it out.

    Thanks,
    Joe

If I understand your question, there is an unlimited number of verbs that work with your phrase e.g. "play it yourself", "drive it yourself", "sing it yourself" etc.

Yes, and in none of these cases is it necessary that you "do it on your own". For example, you can hire a car, and drive your family on holidays. You are driving the car yourself, but not on your own.
