(2) As the teacher has just told us,
Fathers' Day is probably
the "correct" spelling because I believe that it means "the day
for father
s."
(3) But people do not always do what is "correct." Sometimes
people do what -- in their opinion -- looks nicer.
(4) I have just opened my newspaper -- one of the best newspapers
in the United States. Let's see what I find:
(a) An advertisment for Rolex watches says "Isn't it time to remember Dad?"
(b) A furniture store announces "Father's Day Recliner Sale."
(c) A mattress advertisement proclaims "Father's Day Sale!"
(d) A company that takes people out on fishing boats cleverly
announces "Catch a great Father's Day deal." (It shows a father
fishing from a boat while his son watches.)
(e) A clothing store advertises its "Father's Day Sale."
(5) Well, I think that it is pretty clear:
Probably most Americans prefer
Father's Day.

Presidents' Day
Presidents Day
