Post Is it good to say that?

    Dear teachers,

If a teacher constantly teaches me something, explains something to me, I would like to express my appreciation, and I say, "I have learned one more thing from you, thank you." Is it good to say that? Or is there another way of expressing the similar idea?

    Thank you!

You're not going to say that every time you learn something new, are you, Heidi?

Your teachers will soon begin to find that very tiresome.

How about sending a simple Thank You card at the end of the school year?

    ***** NOT A TEACHER *****

    Hello, Heidi:

    (1) I agree with the other posters that thanking your teacher

every day loses its impact (power).

    (2) On the other hand, I think that waiting until the end of the

    term is too long.

    (3) Why not thank your teacher at the end of each week. And

instead of just using the words "thank you" and "learned," I would

    be specific:

Mr. Chen, I really liked the lesson this week on words that already

have a preposition. It was great to learn that the word "aboard" consists

of the old preposition "a" plus the word "board." Your class is really

helping me to build up my vocabulary. I hope you and your family have a

nice weekend and I'll see you on Monday."
