Not a teacher only a native.

You could say, 'I want to extend my insurance.' Or if you want to sound more polite, 'I would like to extend my insurance.'

If you want a synonym for extend, you could have 'renew', which is a common term often used with insurance eg. I will renew my insurance tomorrow.'

I would use "renew" for insurance and "extend" for warranty/guarantee.

"Renew" is good if that's what you're doing, ie. paying for more time. If you want to "extend" it by adding a new car, or revaluing your house upwards, perhaps "adjust" or "readjust" might work.
That is, are you extended the time period, or the items/value insured?
