    comma usage

    Hi everyone,

Could you tell me which one is correct...

"In the morning, I went surfing"
"In the morning I went surfing"

I'm aware that I can say or write "I went surfing in the mornig".

    Thanks.

As a standalone sentence, it does not require the comma.

In the morning I went surfing. In the afternoon I went to the cinema. In the evening I dined with friends.

A comma would be required for:

In the morning, when I went surfing, it was very cold.
