    spread abroad

    Hi

A grandmother of a certain pupil came to school to talk to the teacher. When the teacher walked out of the classroom and joined the grandmother in the corridor the grandmother said:

Shut the door. I donít want it spread abroad yet.

Does it mean: I don't want anyone else to hear it/about it?

Yes, she didn't want whatever it was to be made public.
