    what's the meaning of "it got so"

    What's the meaning of "It got so"?
    complete sentence goes like"it got so I could smell that woman's perfume"
    does it mean the same as "it so happened(that)"?

    Also,I have another question if any one of the respected teachers could kindly answer?

    When we use "bargain" in a sentence,it is preceded by the word "strike",for example "let's strike a bargain".what is the word "strike" called(in grammar),and what's the function of the very word here.

    Not quite. "The situation developed to a point when...".

    At first I liked the way she would drop in for a coffee and chat, but this happened more and more frequently, sometimes when I just wanted to be alone. Eventually it got so that I couldn't stand the sight of her.

    'Get' is often used for 'become'.
    "It became such that I could smell ..."

    I got fat/tired/hungry... = I became fat/tired/hungry...
