    ever so slightly

    Hi

One woman was looking at the other woman. One of them was drinking alcohol and talking stupid things. The one who was looking at the other one thought to herself:

A little ... ever so slightly drunk.

Does "ever so slightly" mean "very slightly"?

So she was a little, very little drunk?

    Re: ever so slightly

    Yes.

Another example of how it can be used:
Move it ever so slightly to the left=move it a tiny bit to the left.

I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.

    Re: ever so slightly

    Not a teacher.

"Ever so" is an intensifier for adjectives. It means "very".

    Examples:
    Ever so friendly.
    Ever so smoothly.
    Ever so slightly.
    Ever so politely.
