    force, more powerful...

    It becomes a driving force, more powerful than anyone ever could imagine.

    Is the comma necessary? I think so because without the comma the sentence is wrongly punctuated.

    "It becomes a driving force more powerful than anyone could ever imagine." This is fine as a sentence. That's not to say that the comma is wrong.

    I agree. I figure that either with or without the comma the sentence is correct. The meaning is not lost.
