    Question of gerunds

    "Their doing the dishes was considerate. "
    I ca't understand why this sentence is correct.
    Firstly,I think "Their"shouldn"t be used because it"s an object pronoun.
    Secondly,I can"t undestand why"doing" can become a noun.

    It isn't - it's a possessive.
    Secondly,I can"t undestand why"doing" can become a noun.
    The whole point about a gerund is that it is a form of the verb that has many of the qualities of a noun.
    Killing people is wrong.

    'Killing'
    is the subject of the verb 'is'; it is therefore a noun.
    'Killing' has a direct object, 'people'; it is therefore a verb.

    That's a gerund.
