Hi,

Question:
why does the sentence say "will reduce"?
it seems to say the amount will reduce something.
However, the fact is that something reduces the amount.

Sentence:
The amount of money that you will receive will reduce.

thanks

It will reduce (itself).
Yes. However, it is important to understand what "reduce itself" means too. "Reduce" has two meanings. It can mean diminish (something) or become diminished. These meanings are different. In your sentence, uktous, "reduce" has the second meaning. In this meaning, the verb "reduce" doesn't denote an action that the subject performs. It denotes a process that the subject undergoes. You're right that if "reduce" always had the first meaning, then this sentence wouldn't make much sense.
