    I wish...

I need some help with "I wish"
Which one of the following is correct?
I wish it wasn't raining, or
I wish it wouldn't be raining
I think the first one is correct because we can use "I wish" plus a state verb in the simple past, but i also think that the second one is correct too because we can use "I wish" plus would as a complain. Which one is correct?

The first is right. You can say the following:
"I wish it would stop raining."
"I wish it wouldn't rain so much."
"I wish it wouldn't rain every time I wanted to go bike riding."

But, it is raining now. So, you have to say, "I wish it wasn't raining."

    NOT A TEACHER!

If I remember correctly, I thought that you should use "were" if you use I wish. For instance, in this case, I wish it weren't raining.

I know that it sounds kind of weird to use "were,' but that was what I was taught when I was in grammar school.

That use of the subjunctive 'were' for all persons is regarded as the only correct form by some people, especially Americans.

Howevr, the use of 'was' has become increasingly common, and accepted, in BrE over the last fifty years.
