Hello.

Not a teacher nor a native.

To me that sounds good. But I don't know what does it mean to sterilize cat.

When I first read and imagine this, it made me laugh for a little. ;-)

Of course, my comment has only entertainment purpose plus may be will promote your thread ;-).

So I strongly recommend you to wait for teacher's reply.

Thanks, Alex.

It's a perfectly acceptable use of "I get angry when..." I'm not sure how you know simply by seeing someone that they have not neutered their cat though!

Note BrE spelling: sterilise.

To the previous poster - it means to put your (female, in this case) cat through an operation to ensure that she cannot have kittens. It's one of the most important things all cat owners (both male and female cats) can do to ensure that there are no more unwanted kittens in the world.

There is a slightly slang term for the procedure: "to fix". It would be understood I believe by the vast majority of BrE speakers to mean "to neuter" if you were clearly talking about their pet cat or dog.

"Have you had your cat fixed yet? Yes, he/she was done last week."

Tomcats are neutered, females are spayed.

Surgical instruments are sterilised.

Unless you are skilled with a knife, you don't spay or neuter your cate you have it spayed or neutered.

Thank you all.

Would it be better to use the gerund form? "I get angry when I see people not neutering their tomcats"

Thanks a lot

I prefer your first version. The gerund version is OK, but we will doubtless get someone pointing out that we see people not neutering their cats 99.9999% of the time. In fact, I can report that I have never seen people neutering their cats. ;-)
