    Does my sentence sound OK?

    After doing an experiment in the lab, his confusion was cleared up.

    A nice try, and quite unambiguous. But you should still quote your example sentences.

    Yes, it's OK. But it would be more correct as "By doing an experiment ..." - assuming that you mean that the experiment (or its results) cleared up his confusion.

    Therefore, I used " after'' in my sentence.

    Yes, further context can make a difference. That makes more sense.
