plural possessive modifier + singular noun

    Are the following sentences correct?

The siren didn't stop them from eating their dinner.
The siren didn't stop them from eating their apple.

Each person has a dinner in sentence one and an apple in sentence two.

Is dinner, then, a noncount noun?

    Thanks!

Thank you. I suspected there existed a grammatical term for this.
