The £23,000,000 they are going to lose if (Cesc Fabregas) leaves Arsenal.
What does "stand to lose" mean?
"Set to lose"?
Thanks a lot
This is probably more a football question than an English question but, out of curiosity, why are they going to lose £23million?
Will they only lose £23million if he "walks away" ie he leaves and they don't sell him to another team for £23million? Or is it that they think he brings in £23million in ticket sales and sponsorship by simply playing for the team and it is that potential income that will be lost if he leaves?
I know this is very much off-topic, but since I found 'offside' a bit off, I'd like to know its meaning. :)
Alright, I checked an online dictionary, to my undestanding, the offside rules states that if the ball is out/off the boundaries, the game must be stopped.
Is that so?
