Cool Put or Lay the blame?

    Hello amigos!

You put/lay the blame on your wife for your drinking, itīs not cool at all!

Which one fits better in the sample above?

    Thanks in advance,

    Sam

I would use "lay" but "put" works as well. As does "You blame your wife for your drinking!"
