    skim (v)

    Dear teachers,

    Would you be kind enough to give me your considered opinion concerning the interpretation of the verb in bold in the following sentence?

    Once I was through that barrier, it wasn’t hard to float through less-alarming things and places, skimming for the information I wanted.

    skim = look through cursorily

    Re: skim (v)

    Not really in this context... sounds bizarre. I know what you're trying to say but it just does not come across correctly. Perhaps you can rewrite this without using "skimming?"
