However, the Turks' greatest fear is that demonstrations in Syria, in which Kurds are taking part, might escalate into clashes which might cause those Kurds to flee to Turkey. It is common knowledge that the Turks hate the Kurds and have no interest in increasing their number in Turkey. Last week the Turkish intelligence received intelligence information that Syria had sent some agents under cover of refugees to those camps in Turkey, in order to detect the refugees' deeds and conversations and thus find an excuse to settle the account with them once they return to Syria. If it turns out that the Syrian intelligence is working without permission on Turkish soil, it will be considered a slap on Erdogan's cheek.
