    doctor and nurse

    Are these sentences correct:

1-Harry and Jane are brother and sister.
2-Mr. and Mrs. Smith are doctor and nurse.
    3-They are husband and wife.

4-They are two brothers and a sister.
5-They are brothers and sister. (meaning: a number of brothers and one sister.)

#1 and #3 are fine. #2 sounds strange to me. I think the most natural thing to say is simply, "Mr Smith is a doctor and his wife is a nurse".

#4 is not natural. I think #5 is possible, but if I were talking about three people, I think that I would say, "She is their sister".

This is why the word "sibling" exists, isn't it? They are siblings.
