    hand someone off

    Dear teachers,

Would you be kind enough to help me to make the proper choice of the interpretation of the expression in bold in the following sentence?

But if she is so strong, it wouldn’t be fair to hand her off to someone else because I can’t subdue her.

    1. hand off = palm off = to dispose of or pass off by deception

dispose of = kill or destroy

    or

    2. hand off = take over or take over

    V.

    2. She would be made to be someone else's responsibility.
