Could you tell me the difference between the following phrases? I've seen all of them in different texts.
in the sea
in sea
at sea
Please give me some examples for each one.

in the sea There are more and more pollutants in the sea. (Specific reference to an area)
in sea Can't think of any example of use as such. Show us the text/context.
at sea They were lost at sea for two weeks. (General reference to location)
Please give me some examples for each one.

I got it. I myself can't think of any sentence in which "in sea" is used, but I've seen it. It must have been used wrongly.

And [all] at sea can have an idiomatic meaning suggesting that things are a mess.
