    Have you seen my pen? / Did you see my pen?

    1. Have you seen my pen?

    2. Did you see my pen?

    I was told that sentence 1 is BrE, while 2 is AmE. Is this so?

    It depends on the context. Both are acceptable in both dialects - in the right context.
