Both emerging and emergent are adjectives related to the concept of emergence but, I think in some cases there is a slight difference.

EMERGING
Coming to maturity: emerging markets; the emerging states of Africa.
EMERGENT
Occurring unexpectedly and requiring urgent action: an emergent political leader.

Regards.

I have found the following examples under the explanations of the two words in longman dictionary:

"EMERGING"

The country's emerging oil industry

"EMERGENT"

The emergent nations of the world

Perhaps it's just me, but I feel there is more of a sense of completion with "emergent".
An emergent nation as a nation just newly emerged, rather than being in the process of emerging?
EDIT: It is just me, the dictionary says no.

I don't know whether we are right, but I feel something like that. In my last post I wrote, " I don't feel a significant difference". I used the word significant because I was not sure about what I did feel. I think that you managed to express my vague feeling. You may not be right, but you are not wrong, in my opinion.
