    claim/maintain/assert

    Are these sentences correct:
    1-He claimed: "I am innocent."
    (He claimed that he was innocent.)

    2-He maintained: "I am innocent."
    (He maintained that he was innocent.)

    3-He asserted: "I am innocent."
    (He asserted that he was innocent.)

    They are correct, though I assume you know that they don't mean the same thing.
