Can somebody check the following sentence and tell if its correct.
Outdoor workers were aware that they are at risk of skin cancer; However, their use of sun protective measures were significantly low.

    ***** NOT A TEACHER *****

    (1) You have written a very nice sentence.

    (2) You might, however, consider these changes:

Outdoor workers were aware that they were at risk of skin cancer; however, their

use of sun protective measures was significantly low.

    (a) I personally would prefer "nevertheless" instead of "however."

    Re: However

Nice to see you again, Parser. I hope you were enjoying some time off and weren't ill.
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.

    Re: However

Or "despite this" instead of "however."

Thank you for your kind note. Actually, I have been ill. But the main reason for

my silence is still the same: I do not dare answer most of the questions, for they

are too difficult for me. I simply read the answers from you and the other posters in

order to better understand this magnificent language.

If I am saying significantly low, do I need to say in comparison to what?

It's not necessary in this case. The reader will understand that the implied comparison is to the commonly accepted medical recommendation.
