    Exclamation About a song

    Hi,
I need 2 very simple suggestions about the lyrics of my new song.

I can't understand if this phrase is totally correct:

    "Lies like the rain"

A friend of mine told me that can be a "poetic license"... is it correct?

She suggests me to use "lies like the rainfall" or "like rain fallin'"

But for the metrics it's very important to use "Lies like the rain"...

    Another question:

The expression "glassy face" is it correct?

This friend of mine suggests me to use "glass-like face"... but I don't like it too much.

Thank you very much and many compliments for the site.

    glassy-eyed - Wiktionary

    "Glassy eyed" is the expression.

I'm not sure what you are saying about the rain. Do you mean it lies on the ground?

    Thanks.

    Re: About a song

Water (or rain) is thought of as pooling or puddling on the ground, more than just lying.

But you can certainly say that rain "lies." Be careful that you are not misunderstood to mean "lies" as in not telling the truth. Then again, maybe that provides some artistic ambiguity.

    Re: About a song

This is the entire prhase (the hook of the song):

    "There's no escape.
    There's no way back.
In the land of nowhere you only tell me lies, lies, lies.
    Lies like the rain".

    Thanks a lot.

    Re: About a song

How is the lying like the rain? Do you mean the lies are everywhere and cover everything?

That doesn't work for me. I thought you meant something like:

"Our shattered dreams are lying there
    Lying everywhere,
    Like the rain
    After the storm".

    Yes. That's what I meant.

I'm talking about the lies that cover the truth.
