Place things in/into/in to a box?

    Hi,
Place the packages gently in/into/in to the box?

Shall I use in, into or in to?

Also if someone could please explain the difference between "into" and "in to", if any?
    Thanks in advance

If you want to say "inside", use in or into.

I put it into the box.
I put it in (in = into the box) to protect it.
