    comprehension

    Dear teachers,

    Please read the following:
Childhood was an illusion and the illusion was this: everything was bigger. No, I mean everything, not just houses and shops and grown-ups, but colors and flowers and journeys, especially journeys which seemed endless. Are we there yet, Daddy?

When the speaker says that childhood was an illusion he means that_______.
    a. the ullusion made houses, shops and grown-ups bigger
    b. childeren had a wrong idea about houses, shops and grown-ups
    c. everything, such as colores, flowers and journeys, seemed to be more wonderful to a child
    d. colors, flowers and journeys were strange to children
The key is "c". But I don't understand why it is the correct answer. Could you please kindly explain which part in the paragraph suggests "wonderful"?

Looking forward to hearing from you.
    Thank you in advance.

    Jiang

    a. the ullusion made houses, shops and grown-ups bigger This is true, but is not the complete story
    b. childeren had a wrong idea about houses, shops and grown-ups It's not really 'wrong'
    c. everything, such as colores, flowers and journeys, seemed to be more wonderful to a child
    d. colors, flowers and journeys were strange to children No

I am not happy with c, either. 'wonderful' suggests a positive idea, but an endless journey is not necessarily wonderful for a child.

    Hi fivejedjon,

Thank you so much for your explanation. So none of the choices are correct.
