    No ordinary love

This is no ordinary love. A song by Sade.
Why is it "no" but not "not" an ordinary love?
Can I say this is no good school this is no bad song etc
    Thank you

    Re: No ordinary love

Yes; no is often used to mean not a(n) or not any.

'I'm no psychiatrist, but I think you're crazy.'

'He'll do the best he can but he's no expert.'

And more commonly in sentences like these:

    'There's no place like home.'

'You've no reason to stay any longer.'

'I've no idea what time it is.'

    REMINDER: NOT A TEACHER

    (A) This is no ordinary love.

    (B) This is not an ordinary love.

    (1) If I understand my books correctly, a sentence like A is stronger and more

    emphatic.

    Sue: May I borrow $1?

Tom: Sorry, but I do not have any money.

Sue: Please, please. I need a dollar.

Tom: I told you I have no money! Can't you hear?
