Are these sentences natural? October 4

    Hi,

Are the following sentences natural to a native ear?

    1. I want to know how many of those projects are your own and how many you are managing for other people.

    2. I want to know how many of those projects are your own and how many are owned by third parties.

    3. The sun was directly in the eye and I was not able to see anything on the road.

    Thanks,
    MG.

    2. I want to know how many of those projects are your own and how many are owned (OK, but "belong to" would work too) by third parties.

    3. The sun was directly in the eye and I was not able to see anything on the road. Because you use "I" in the second clause, I would use "in my eyes" in the first clause. (This makes the statement more personal) But if you use "in the eye" in the first clause, I would use something like "and it was impossible to see anything".(This make the statement more impersonal or general.)

    Thanks,
    MG.

The first 2 look fine to me.

The third one is a little strange as it implies that you only have 1 eye.

As a general or hypothetical state as in the saying, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder"

    Thanks folks.

A follow up question. What do you think of this variation of #1?

1b. How many of those projects are your own and how many are you managing for other people?

    Thanks.
