    announce himself king

I read this phrase of 'announce (rather than declare) himself king' in DISNEY ENHANCED TALES. Is it also good English though this usage of the verb announce isn't seen in dictionaries?

    Thank you in advance.

    Re: announce himself king

'He declared himself king' is what we'd normally expect.
