I am trying to translate some Russian cultural terms into English. Here are they are:
lyceum (or lycee?) - in modern Russia it's a type of secondary school (with more specializations available for the students)

gymnasium - another type of secondary school, differs from a lyceum (licee) in that more emphasis is laid on humanities (I may be mistaken though)

Anyway, can anyone help me explain to foreign guests that "our university collaborates (may I say so?) with educational institutions of all levels (including secondary schools, lyceums, gymnasiums)" Will it be undestandable? Or shall I add some comment when interpreting? :-?

I would add comments or definitions. "Gymnasium" has a very different meaning in English, and "lycee" is totally foreign.

For UK readers, use high school for a secondary school. Specify its specialities if appropriate.

Lycée is the French word for secondary school.

I would have said that high school was more American than British.

In British, secondary school is the general term for schools with pupils aged from 11 to 16/18.
