Please take a look at this paragraph first:
I feel that it's very clear by over the past few months the writer means he's refering to the past. How come after this time express, the present continuous tense is used? I just don't get it.“Over the past year, the market has gotten stronger, stronger and stronger,” said Daria Salusbury, the national head of leasing for Related, which owns and operates 18 buildings in New York City with a total of 5,000 tenants. “Over the past few months, we are exceeding our 2007 rents.”
