    He passes IN to Miller,

    We're in the final quarter of this ball game.
    Stokes will TAKE THE BALL OUT at halfcourt.
    He passes IN to Miller,
    Miller back to Stokes.
    Stokes shoots the jumper.


    Why do they put the "IN" in there? and what "TAKE THE BALL OUT " mean here?

    "In" from "out of bounds"/the boundry (i.e. outside the restricted/official playing area) to a player "in bounds" ( the official playing area).
    "Take the ball out" means for a player to be responsible for passing the ball from out of bounds to a player in bounds.
