    Monster mash

Yes, I am talking about the halloween song with the same name.

I read no question is too silly so I will ask, what is the mash? Really, I realize sometimes songs don't make much sense, but why mash and not mush or mesh?

The simple answer to that is: Why not "mash"?

This may help: Mashed Potato - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The "mashed potato" or "mash" was a type of dance popular in the 60s and various songs and dance crazes were based on it.

    Re: Monster mash

The Bonzo Dog Band's version is much better than the original.

    Re: Monster mash

There was an annoying trend in the 1960s to make a "dance" out of almost any word, phrase or current popular TV/movie character. Even if there were no actual unique dance moves involved, it sold records to have, for example, "Lurch" from The Addams Family record a novelty song called "Do the Lurch."
