    Limiting of?

    Hey Teachers,

    *puts apple on desk*

I read on facebook the phrase: "we find reality too limiting of our genius"

Shouldn't it be: "we find reality and truth too limiting for our genius"?

And when do we use "limiting of"?

    Cheers.

As far as I'm concerned, "limiting of" isn't a phrase that we can say how it is used. It actually sounds very unnatural to me. "Limiting" is a word that can be used in many ways.

I'm not sure why you think the sentence should include "reality and truth" instead of just "reality" as you said the original contained. The whole quote may have been made up by the person who posted on Facebook. That person might not be a native English speaker. We can write whatever we want on Facebook. I doubt that all of my quotes and status updates are necessarily grammatically correct.

    Re: Limiting of?

Yes, it sounds unnatural to me too, but I was just making sure because the person who said it is good at english... so I'm just making sure.
    Thanks!
