    Hello
I am a student . What is the meaning of "On top of that accolade" in the following sentences :

The committee chair made a speech in which she praised the student for his dedication and achievements. On top of that accolade, he was awarded a substantial scholarship grant.

In addition to/besides/or in this case something more substantial.

    NOT A TEACHER

I believe that it means "besides," or "in addition to." In other words:

The chair lavished praise on the student. Even better, the student received a scholarship, too. (Words are nice; money is even better!)

    In addition to that praise.

On top of = in addition to something

EDIT: I need to stop leaving windows open for 15 minutes before hitting post!

I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
