    like vs as, again!

    Dear teachers,

in the following statement, which one sounds better, like or as?

Calf is pronounced 'ka:f', like/as in 'talk' or 'walk'.

    Thanks

Neither. Calf has a different vowel (/ɑ:/) from the one in talk and walk (/ɔ:/).

Yes, but I meant the silent L, sorry. As for the 'like versus as' battle, which one do you think sounds best? I have a feeling that 'as' is OK.

al in talk is pronounced /ɔ:/, as in walk, not/ɔ:l/ (as in tall and wall).
