    the circlet

There is a silver ring in Eragon's hand.

The silver shimmered, and a ghostly image of the ring materialized next to it. The two were identical except that the apparition seemed purer and glowed white-hot. [...]
The insubstantial ring vanished from Eragonís hand, leaving the circlet of silver behind.

    (C. Paolini; Eragon)

Does 'the circlet' here simply mean 'the ring'?

    Thanks.

It would seem to mean the ring, yes.
