    Soccer shoes vs cleats

    Which one is more common in spoken language in the U.S?

    Also, I think they are called boots in the U.K, is that right?

    In BrE, they're called "football boots" or sometimes "soccer boots", but the former is much more common. They're also referred to as "studs".

    "Cleats" would be the common term in American football. I don't know about soccer. I imagine it's the same.
