    Hi.
"He served 27 years in prison for fighting to ----- White-only rule."

Which of the topic choices are correct and why?

They could all be correct grammatically.

Based on what you know of world history, was he imprisoned for trying start or end white-only rule?

Which word means the same as the word you chose?
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.

You will have to ask the people who created your test.

The book said "diminish"? I would have said "abolish."

As bhaisahab said, 'install' is grammatically correct. If no other context was given, that was a bad. test question.
And whhat does world history have to do with General e nglish knowledge?
Most people who know anything of the history of the last century would assume that anybody who had been jailed for 27 years for fighting ...... xxxx white rule would have been trying to get rid of it in some way.

In the unlikely event of it being a white person who was trying to hold back the rights of people of other races, he would been more likely to be fighting to protect/defend white rule, not install or develop it.
