    multiply

What is the most formal way to write (and say) this equation 4*2=8 ?
    1. Four multiplied by two equals eight.
    2. Two multiplied by four equals eight.
    3. 4 multiplied by 2 equals 8.
    4. 2 multiplied by 4 equals 8.
    Thanks,

    Re: multiply

The first one. Do not start a sentence with a numeral. Write out in full the letters.
