Which one of the statements below is correct?

1 - I plan to not be financially dependent for the rest of my life. OR
I plan not to be financially dependent for the rest of my life.

2- I politely asked her not to do this. OR
I politely asked her to not do this.

I would appreciate it if you gave me more examples. Thanks

Hi and welcome to the forum. If you enter "to not or not to" or something similar into the Search box, you will find that there are several threads on this subject already. I'm sure they will be very useful for you.

First, I agree that you should search the forum for other examples, as the previous poster suggested.
Second, some brief answers to your question, Which one of the statements below is correct?
1 - I plan to not be financially dependent for the rest of my life. OR I plan not to be financially dependent for the rest of my life.
Both of the above sound extremely awkward to me. I would say it this way:
- I don't (or do not) plan to be financially dependent for the rest of my life.
2- I politely asked her not to do this. OR I politely asked her to not do this.
Both of these are correct, although the first one - without the split infinitive - sounds more natural. There is a very slight grammatical distinction here that you might find described on another forum page, but you would be fine just going with the first one.

Thanks for helping me, it was useful. In addition, you're right about the first one: it doesn't make any sense.

Merry Christimas!

How about "I plan on being financially independent."
