    rub off

What does the following in red mean in the context?

The relationship with Friedland changed him, too. When Jobs arrived on campus, Kottke remembered, he was extremely shy and quiet. Friedland, by contrast, was fast-talking and glib, and always the center of attention. Inspired by Friedland's charm and salesmanship, Jobs began to open up and to take charge of situations. "After he spent time with Robert, some of it started to rub off," Kottke said.

    Thank you.

    Re: rub off

Friedland's charm and salesmanship were absorbed by Jobs because the two spent so much time together. Jobs was influenced by the conduct of Friedland.
