    Do these verbs mean the same?

    1) She stretched out her hand to try to reach the apple on the other side of the fence.
    2) She reached out for the apple on the other side of the fence.

    Do they mean the same? Are they good?

    For me, sentence 1 implies some effort involved, whereas sentence 2 seems to be easier.

    There is certainly more effort required to say it.
