Question about 'would you like ...?'

    Hi Teachers,
Do you agree with the following definition? Can I call it 'expression'?
If someone uses this expression, 'would you like', they are are politely offering somebody something; like in the example below.
Would you like to read about it? Itís all here in the paper.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi sir,
Thank you for your reply and example. Then I should add 'according to the example'. It will be clearer.

    Best,

Re: Question about 'would you like ...?'

For some speakers, 'Would you like to' (= Please) can be a polite request.

"Would you like to give our guests a drink while I finish off in the kitchen?"

    Hi sir,
Thank you for you additional information. Then the expression should always be 'would you like to'.
