Dear all,

What is the meaning of "You have to plan for everything but a tractor" in this context:

"YOU HAVE TO PLAN FOR EVERYTHING BUT A TRACTOR. THAT IS MY PEP UP SPEECH FOR YOU. PLAN FOR EVERYTHING BUT A TRACTOR BECAUSE YOU KNOW WHAT? THAT ONE THING YOU'RE NOT GOING TO PLAN FOR IS THE ONE THING THAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN AND THEN WHAT? RIGHT?"

It was said by a coach to a wrestler who is about to play in his first match.

Thanks a lot.

In BrE, the term is "pep talk", not "pep speech" or "pep up speech".

The coach is saying that the wrestler should plan for everything. The one thing that he will not have to plan for is a tractor. The wrestler will probably never need a tractor and, because of this lack of need, he doesn't have to plan on how to get one - he should plan on almost everything else happening.

I couldn't get the meaning!
